“i can”
by jade lundgren
A few words from jade
The song “I Can” was born during a time when I was discovering my strength—both physically and spiritually. I found my way to an incredible gym that was teaching me how to lift and find my inner athlete (which we all have in us!). The gym’s theme, inspired by Philippians 4:13, was “I can”— “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
During a writing session with former Emerging Sound interns, Sarah Hodges (Ward) and Allison Grokowsky (Kai), we decided to write a pop song, and the theme “I Can” felt like the perfect fit. Sometimes, we all need a simple reminder: through Christ, we can face life’s battles because He empowers us.
I envision this song as a source of encouragement for anyone facing difficulties, a reminder that God is their strength.
come to life lyrics
Verse 1
There is peace in your trouble
There is help for your need
There is hope in every moment
There is a Friend who will not leave
Verse 2
There’s a hand who will hold you
There’s a light that can guide.
There’s a joy that covers sorrows
There’s a power when you can’t fight
Chorus 1
Look above, Lift your eyes
See the cross of Jesus Christ!
There His love was opened wide!
Come on home, come on home, come to life!

He is freedom for the captives
He’s the price we could not pay
He has made the way to Heaven
He has overcome the grave!

See the cross of Jesus Christ!
There His love was opened wide!
Come on home, come on home
Come to life!

“The crown jewel of my life is Jesus. He’s the high point, the whole point, and the most noteworthy thing about me. He interrupted the course of my normal teenage life, and at 16, opened my eyes to my need for a Savior and gave me the grace and courage to leave my normal life behind and follow Him. It’s the best thing that ever happened to me, and I have happily dedicated my life to loving and serving God however He sees fit” - Jade Lundgren
